5 stars!
I'd agree with the more recent surveys. I went to Thai Orchid not expecting much but I was very very surprised. Their menu is diverse. The food is probably the best thai food I've had. The portions were huge and the quality was very fresh. The manager and waitress' are so nice. It's good have a restaurant who actually cares about customer satisfaction. dishes:
satay chicken: very nice
seafood/ beef basil fried rice, not spicy: big and tasty
red chicken curry: excellent, bamboo shoots are nice, white rice is free!
pad see ew: it had chinese brocolli! just like it should be in the pictures of other thai places but usually serve brocolli!
glass noodle salad: wonderful! but I found a string that tied the noodles together... but I didn't bother "replacing" it.
free dessert: salty? no thanks
jasmine milk tea: awesome
thai tea: good

One of the best Thai restaurants I have been to. This place is very pricey and has decent food. The manager and the waitresses are very nice. I'm glad this place took over iCafe.
Definitely not the BEST thai restaurant in the area, but not the worst either. Saladang and Saladang Song in Pasadena are MUCH, MUCH better in taste and quality. So if you want authentic, great Thai food go to Saladang. However, Orchid Thai is not the worst food ever. It's good if you're in a hurry and want to get something fast and simple in Arcadia. The pad thai is average. Sometimes, they have coupons in the mail for a "buy one, get one entree free" deal which is SWEET! That's the best deal ever. But if you're looking for something AUTHENTIC, DON'T GO HERE.
Not bad but I feel this place is somewhat pricey for what it is.
The curry here is not that great though but pad thai seems to be something you can always fall back on.
At least they kept the boba/shaved ice part of what used to be Lollicup/iCafe.
If you don't feel like going far then I'd suggest this place for thai food but don't go out of your way for it.
Their Pad Thai & Pad See Ew are delicious! The waiters are also really nice.
im alright with this, love their delivery's
YUM! I have to say, I have been here about 4 times and every time, delicious! The decor is a bit funky and the entrance from the mall side confusing (you have to walk through the take out section, which looks like a smoothie bar), but it's a great place! Ask them what the heck all those lights are for, no one can ever tell me. I think there must be some crazy midnight dance parties or something in there cause the place is just itching for a disco. Anyways, order anything with Thai basil in the name, you can't go wrong. Also try the Hazelnut ice blended Boba drink for something very interesting and delicious. The Pad-See-Yew is also the best I have had.
Keep it up Orchid Thai, 5 Stars!

Not bad! I was really satisfied by this place. Don't be intimidated by the parking lot in the back, if you're lucky enough to get a space. The food is pretty tasty and the waiters are all really nice. All I can say that would make this place perf would be bigger portions, some egg rolls, and just a bit more spice. Go for the yellow curry. My God.
This is a decent place with decent Thai food.
You won't be blown away, but not disappointed either.
If you're in the mood to go somewhere other than your usual Thai favorite place you could do a lot worse.
They overcharged us for an item on the ticket but I'm sure it wasn't intentional.
i just got used to living up in the mountains like a frickin hermit. and quite honestly, i am almost ok about not driving anymore. cause last night, i ordered something other than pizza! i had thai instead. and it was pretty damn good. this place normally doesnt deliver. i asked if they delivered and they said they dont, but they did it for me. i had to give him detailed directions and he found it. when he arrived, he was like, who the heck lives up here? i do, the frickin hermit that i have become. the food was great. all i wanted was green curry but i ended up ordering that, plus, crispy catsfish. comes with a really spicy sauce which i loved, cause i like it as spicy as it can come. i wouldve added more spice but my bf cant handle that shit. both literally and figuratively.
i dont think they deliver on a consistent basis, but that is one thing they should consider.

Though I was sad to see iCafe be replaced, I'm glad it was Orchid Thai Cuisine that took over the space. This restaurant quickly became one of my family's favorites because of the great food, super-friendly service, comfortable space, and reasonable prices.
There is a counter in the front and a few tables there, but you should ask to be seated in the big room in the back where there is a more relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
Tips: In order to find Orchid Thai, you might need to start by parking in the huge-but-always-crowded parking lot off of Naomi. Then, once you understand its general location, you'll find easier parking right on Baldwin just South of Duarte. There's almost always a few spaces available and you can walk right in the back door to the restaurant area.

In their new location, they actually have a boba/shave ice stand in the front and the thai restaurant in the back, so it's an interesting but surprisingly convenient set up.
The food is authentic. My mother's family is from Thailand, and she told me the way you can tell a really good, authentic thai restaurant is from their rad nar (rice noodle dish with gravy). Fortunately, I like rad nar, and they have one of the best rad nar's i've tasted. they also have an excellent beef tendon soup. Their pad thai is excellent (but you can get pad thai anywhere). The papaya salad is really good as well. A good papaya salad needs to marinade for a few hours so the flavors can come together into a sweet, sour and spicy blend.
The service is very friendly, and prices reasonable.
Mailman came in the handed me a coupon! Hmm...Thai Food place yum! Wait a minture this use to be I Cafe but I guess business was not booming. =( So I was thinking I should try this place out since it is across the street and I got me a coupon!! Whoo hoo 25% off your entire meal. So I went there with a GF during my lunch and the menu was good on prices, they have lunch special. Pretty good food, and the portions are big and not small and cheap.
Now...I must add that if you like spicy food then when they ask how spicy you say SPICY!! let me tell you...You will need a hose to water down your tongue. My god my nose was running and I had to keep catching it. But hey spicy food is real good! Yumola!
I have had their salads, chicken noodles, pae see eww, soup and I have to say it is all very tasty! I just have to say that it's great that they give you desert but ehh..not my cup of tea. I pass. =P

Apparently this restaurant has moved from Monterey Park and I'm wondering why they left MP, was it to escape a reputation? The service was really slow, our server was extremely nice, but between two servers and two owners and 7 tables, it took a long time for us to place our order, to get our drinks, and the food just wasn't very good. There were two tables that weren't bussed.
We had the prik king, jungle curry (healthier alternative with no coconut milk), and bamboo calamari. I think we ordered wrong because everything tasted exactly the same. Stay away from the mango martini (made with soju), the syrup must have expired, I usually don't send things back (especially alcohol), but it tasted medicinal. They give a free dessert in the end and that was pretty good, cubes of jelly in a sweet soup.
The restaurant itself is nice and new, I liked the star lights that they have going on from parts of the ceiling, if I were a child, I would love for that to be in my room.

i dont usually give places five stars, but it seems like a small mom and pops thats not too known/busy yet, so in this case i give it five....
i think this is the best place for PAD THAI ive ever had... and i love thai food so ive been to hundreds.... the noodles are the perfect level of chewiness! if that makes sense.... =P youll have to try it to understand what i mean. the workers are pretty nice and friendly.... the last time i went the papaya salad wasnt too good, but i think it was the papayas fault and not theirs.... seasoned well but not ripe enough possibly?? anywhoo... great portions and $1 or $2 cheaper than other thai places for awesome food!

Although I miss I-Cafe, Orchid Thai has really been great. I just did a surprise b-day dinner for my husband there with 24 of our closest family and friends and it went well. The staff were super helpful, quick, efficient and the food got rave reviews from our guests who have never been there before...
I should also let you know that the owner was more than awesome in working with my budget before the party and worked with me on the menu, set-up and even allowed us to decorate the place with balloons beforehand.
Try them out. My family and I love their pad thai, pad see ew, yellow curry chicken and seasoned pork chops.
4 and a half stars. We came across Orchid Thai because there was a coupon in the newspaper. Glad we decided to try it. After several years of westside/Westwood Thai joints, Orchid Thai was a welcome change of taste. Their dishes are pretty unique and the ingredients were noticeably fresh. The menu is quite diverse and food was tasty. The white rice we were served was a bit on the soft side. The ambiance is casual and comfortable, almost bordering on the feel of a fast food joint (there is a counter on the parking lot side of the restaurant that contributes to the "fast food joint" impression.) The service was good.
Verdict: For its food, value and variety, Orchid Thai is a place I'd patronize again and also recommend to friends/family.

Usually pretty good, occasionally really good, but lately, not so tasty.
Orchid Thai in Monterey Park has moved to a less elegant location in Arcadia. In iCafe's former spot, they seem a lot more like a caf and boba joint. There's still a larger dining area in the back, but the new location is very much a gem in the rough. There's still a lot of renovation to be done and kinks to be worked out in terms of looks and food. I went here recently for lunch and dinner.
The lunch special:
Recently, I ordered the $6 lunch special, a short menu of entrees accompanied by mediocre curry "wonton" (if you want to call it that), wet yellow and green iceberg lettuce, and some rice. The yellow curry chicken was pretty good and not spicy at all. Ignore red chili symbols. I tolerate spiciness poorly, yet I can no problems here.
Safe bets (good, not necessarily great):
Pad thai
-Good
Angel wings
-Great! stuffed fried chicken wings appetizer not shown on To-Go menu
Crisp fish with spicy garden
-Can be great
-deep fried fish with medley of red onions, cilantro, chilies, and lime juice; sometimes salty here
Pineapple fried rice (once used in a pineapple at the MPk location)
-Good
What I'd avoid: golden cup appetizer (measly and unappealing), spicy seafood soup (uninteresting; seafood is bland), Thai tea (used to be good) and milk tea
Other info:
-readily available parking in a shared lot
-located in the plaza with Ross and Burlington Coat Factory.

I have been a regular customer of this restaurant since it first opened its door in Monterey Park about 5 years ago. Then last year the restaurant closed due to a fire next door. I felt so lost. I tried a couple of Thai restaurants in the San Gabriel Valley but none of them measured up to the standard of Orchid Thai. I was so happy to finally find them reopened in Arcadia. Owners are really friendly and service is great. Dishes that I recommend:
Larb chicken, Chinese broccoli with salted fish, glass noodle salad, basil fish, beef salad, chicken satay, alcoholic noodle, squid salad. Actually, there are too many great dishes on the menu, go try it for yourself. Oh, the Tom yum soup with shrimp is very good too.
